POEM BY GESTHIMANI SIDERIDIS
EMPTY ROAD
The empty road smelled of moisture
light fluff covered the grass
and only the poplars
created shady signs of movement
she held the handkerchief
tightly in her dry hand
a little detail of lace jutted out
he took her wrist tenderly
my love ships don’t pass by here
the voyage requires strength —
he said to her and pulled
her handkerchief affectionately
