Poem from the book “El Greco”
One Sun
Only the sun
so different
overprotecting
where you took your first
breath.
Only soil
hard colorful unwrinkled
forsaken earth arduous
ever enduring
where you stepped first
a child
only the blue sea
an angelic melody
soothing whisper
forever dancing
where you bathed at first
a youth
only your vision
inquiring
wondering
overpowering
result of your Cretan glance
that special ray which summoned
your Goal
a Cretan a giant a man
perhaps you even had flesh
great ancestor
perhaps you felt
like a mortal
fear anger grief
great ancestor
I admire your courage.
