Hellenic Scene
He dismounted, tied the horse to the big mulberry tree.
He relieved himself; the horse was looking at him. He patted
the horse’s neck; “we’re young” he said to it.
The sun was screaming among the osiers. The cicadas were
singing. The fig tree shade slammed onto the stones.
A huge sail, totally red, fluttered over the plane trees.
The horse moved its ears, one by one, while down the road
two young fishermen rolled the big steel drum.
