What Do You Need?

What do you need? A tree a house to

measure how big or small life is as a human being

how big how small when you look up to the crown

lose yourself in green lush beauty

how big how small do you think how short

is your life if you compare it with the life of trees?

You need a tree you need a house

not one for you alone just a corner a roof

to sit to think to sleep to dream

to write to keep silent to see the friend

the stars the grass the flower Heaven.

ΤΙ ΧΡΕΙΑΖΕΣΑΙ

Τί χρειάζεσαι; Ένα σπίτι ένα δέντρο

να μετρήσεις το μάκρος της ζωής τ’ ανθρώπου

πόσο μεγάλος ή μικρός καθώς κοιτάς την κορυφή

αφέσου στο ολοδρόσερο χορτάρι

πόση η ζωή σου μπροστά στου

δέντρου τη ζωή που το χρειάζεσαι

καθώς χρειάζεσαι κι ένα σπίτι

μονάχος στη γωνιά ή στην οροφή

να κάθεσαι να συλλογιέσαι

και να ονειρεύεσαι, να γράφεις

και ν’ ακούς τη σιωπηλή σου ανάσα

το φίλο σου να συναντάς, τ’ αστέρια

το χορτάρι και τον απέραντο ουρανό.
