Constant twilight blended
by opulent snow vastness
caribou’s fatigued muscles
aching wolf eyeing yearling more wary
drumming marching paean
barren white tundra with
stamina of an injured soldier
outside his barricade, one
step closer to demise
yet wolf waits as
patient as the arctic fox who
knows her turn comes when
the wolf pack is fed, in line
with natural balance arranging
seniority and chance
