DREAMS AND SOMERSAULTS
I saw a forest marching
on the hot asphalt.
A deciduous
and a coniferous forest,
with endless troups of birds,
broke into the city.
A fagus silvatica
was leaning out at the Intercontinental.
Birds controlled the buses,
trolleybuses, taxis
and small trucks
on the boulevard.
Seeds of pyramidal poplar trees
sprouted and began to grow
from the breath of the passers-by,
on the shoulders of the bronze statues,
on the marble stairs,
on the exhaust pipes,
in the girls’ tousled hair.
Young birch forests came out
from movie theaters,
the grocery stores were full
of wild fruits
and bastard eggs.
