“Yes, of course.”
“Come this side then,” he suggested, to which she quickly agreed.
Susan, who was divorced too, with a twenty-two-year-old daughter,
worked upstairs in the accounting department, where she fought the
daily battle to make a living for herself and her daughter. He admired
people who took charge and grabbed the bull by the horns, as he
liked to say. Susan, in her early forties had applied herself and studied
for a long time. She specialized in the regulations around corporate
compliance. This would have placed her at the top of the ladder in
any brokerage company and she was truly on the top at Pacific
Trends. No filing was ever done there for any public company trading
in the VSE until Susan had perused all the pertinent details and given
her approval.
Susan was also a beautiful woman with an attractive body that
he craved to explore from every possible side. That there was chemistry
between them, he could clearly see in her fiery blue eyes and in
all the mannerisms that informed clever men that a woman would
be available if they chose to extend their hand and take her.
“Hello there.” Her warm voice sounded like a symphony of violins
in perfect harmony.
He got up and hugged her, detecting a light trembling of her
body in his arms. He liked this reaction. She looked fabulous today
in a light blue skirt and black blouse that complemented the blonde
hair that fell to her shoulders. A beautiful woman, he said to himself.
At five feet six, she stood just a couple of inches below him.
“You look great, Susan” he said, as his eyes played with hers.
“You do too,” she replied. And indeed, he always stood apart
from the other men in the office. He had kept his European flair when
it came to dress, something the women in the office always noticed
and admired, some of them secretly yearning for this Greek man with
the strange name.
He always brought new outfits back from his travels home, and
there was one small clothing boutique in a suburb of Athens, Vanim,
whose clothes in the latest Athens styles always made colleagues at
Pacific Trends notice and make admiring comments.
