POLYTHEISTS
Blessed be, you, who decided
to take upon your shoulders
and rebuild the tumbled
temple of the Hellenes. You
placed the statue of law upon
its head as its coronal, you
incised the logic of Plato
in its marble columns.
You saw the lawless and
endless world of souls and
gods along with masters and
slaves harmoniously and tightly
held together and putting aside
shadowy and smoky idols you
proceeded straight to the cause;
and in a revered hiding place
silently you built your exquisite
Spartan city away from the eyes
of the impious.
Among the half-alive Christians
you rebuilt the new Olympus
and nations of new immortal
stars; Lycurgus and Plato met
in these locals; you rejuvenated
the logos of Zoroaster.
