Secrets
So much he liked the secrets
he even kept a few from himself,
the man with the severed arm,
incomplete, imperfect
in contemporary search
for perfection when at twilight
he gazed at the half-lighted world
and tried to guess what was
worthy of his support
though soon he realized
he had to open wide
all the window shutters,
curtains, wallet, and
his heart before he could
expect their secret
to be revealed.
