The slogan, “Stewardship from Sea to Sea to Sea” hung over a pale blue sky with a distant horizon, a thin
band of water, and in the foreground, enormous rocks anchoring a majestic
Inukshuk. Matthew Coon come, the Grand Chief of the Cree, welcomed
the support and called on other First Nations across the country
to join forces.
An early supporter of the project was Yvonne Chounard, the founder
of the Patagonia Company, who purchased Ken’s original painting, for a
very large sum of money – that went directly into the war chest.
