Venice
Oh Venice, city made of gold and enamel
crown of the gleaming Adriatic Sea
great canal, bridge of sighs, Rialto
unforgettable memory of a dazzling
night when I walked to the mythical plaza
of Saint Mark towards the Palace of the Duke
hearing one by one the forging of the hours
the bronze semblances of two soldiers
how small and shallow they look next to you
the emotions that still keep us on this earth
our ephemeral sorrow, our unsuitable passion
oh, eternal spring of tradition and beauty.
