Being called an idiot has a sting to it, but snide comments in themselves
do no lasting injury. You can pile up all the reasons why the idea of
bringing a dead stream back to health is simply an insane dream—and
you’d be wrong. Just because something is difficult does not make it
insane.
No one will change my determination to spend my life finding ways
in which things will work. Not for money in my pocket, but for a greater
good—which includes benefit to those naysayers.
Was Isumataq an idiotic idea? Well, 54,000 people found justice at
the end of that mission. They cannot now be removed from their land
and sequestered in far away places. They have the potential—which is
daily proved—of having a decent life as Canadians. Is that the dream
of an idiot? I think not.
