Marks On Paper
Who is the lucky woman whose body you enjoy tonight, my love?
Do you remember when we were laying on bed our bodies resembled the maps travellers unfold to find their way?
Then we would saunter over the voyages of our souls.
Tonight, each of us takes their own voyage.
Your map has different constellations.
Your compass guides you to a different direction.
Do you remember that small silver boat I bought for you? I had written on the card “take me on a voyage” and you led me to hell.
From the wreckage of that ship I grabbed a plank held onto it and since then like a castaway I’ve been searching for land.
You, like the rats had abandoned the ship before it sank.
“I’m drowning” you yelled and reached the land.
After all you were suited for voyages.
You always feared to unfurl your sails. The security of land kept you behind. “A quiet life” you had said.
Of those that smell mold?
You couldn’t endure the sea fragrance.
I was left alone to face the tempest.
Alone to still fight against the waves.
Yet I am the one who travels.
