After a few minutes she pulled Bobby to his feet, and they started walking. Then they sat down again and huddled together. They passed the time between walking and resting, walking and resting, but finally they didn’t get up again after their rest. They lay there against the wall, holding onto each other, not moving.
Rachael murmured, “I’m sorry, Ronnie.”
Then she saw the animals – sheep, lambs, cows, and a small donkey. The stable grew warm with their presence. Uncle Morley had been right after all. Rachael’s lips parted in a smile when she saw the manger and looked down into the beautiful face of the Baby Jesus.
