…Eteo to sell to the demand more aggressively, making John at the
trading desk and the boss very happy with the good profit they had
made in less than a month. Eteo sold Ariana’s Platinum shares as well,
getting her a good capital gain and planning to invest the funds into
Wheaton as soon as the private placement was ready, in which he had
reserved three quarters of a million units.
This Tuesday morning Eteo’s thoughts on all these different
things were interrupted by Richard striding into the office with a
wide smile on his face and the air of a successful man.
“We started drilling this morning,” he announced excitedly. “In
a week or so we’ll be in the oil structure.”
“That’s great,” Eteo replied. “Congratulations. I hope everything
turns out well.”
“This can make a company out of Golden Veins, you know,”
Richard continued. “Ten percent is a very respectable interest, and
one good well could be all we need.”
“That’s true,” Eteo admitted. “Let’s hope it pans out. Keep me in
the loop, will you?”
Richard hesitated. He seemed to have something more to say, but
the words wouldn’t come out.
“Something on your mind?” Eteo prompted.
At this, Richard sat down. He brushed at his knees, as if uncomfortable
about something, then he looked at Eteo.
“Do you still have some shares,” he finally asked.
Eteo had been expecting this question. He had kept on feeding
his position in the market every day, but he had hidden the trades
behind a different broker’s number so that Richard couldn’t know
how many more he had left, if any.
“I still hold a large position Richard, but remember, I’m a player.
I sell some, I buy some. That’s how I make a living.”
It was a good answer. Richard relaxed and leaned back in the
chair, smiling. then, without another word, he jumped up, shook
Eteo’s hand and left the office, looking as pleased with himself as he
had when he came in.
Before Eteo could turn this attention to anything else, Susan arrived
with some documents in her hands. She looked great as always.
