Omicron
I placed signposts in my life’s stirrings
between the alpha of the first baby cry
and the omega of mature knowledge
between the soft low tide and
the transcended high tide when
my soundless voice talked to me
like an unstrung violin chord and
ordered that on paper I scribe,
The Seven Wonders of the World
like the other wonder of my future:
the faraway path I was meant to follow
I placed a signpost on
the first smile of the child
like the respect I paid to
my first dreams,
which encouraged me
to draw a straight line upon
which, I, a youth, tried to make
strides on an unfamiliar path
I was ready, rough and unshaven
I listened to the erotic
body of a woman moaning
under the auspices of the moon and
ready I was to sow the next
descendants of my pious family…
