Curtain
Graceful dive of osprey cuts
the air in two bluish pleats and
marks the path of its descent
before the small-mouth bass is grabbed
the wings unfold a smooth whisper
fish in talons to her nest as
crystal effort of love
guides the food to chicks
second dive cuts the silence
and lake surface when
a bored man in the rushes
aims his shotgun on the sky
myth darts through the gun-barrel
yarding down the opera’s curtain
