Ambush
Two words ambush their opposites
stretched on the anvil of time
to cast fragments of intellect
in the void of your brain
letters thrown helter-skelter
in the windless space
yet suddenly the poet arrives
to place them
in his mind’s sack
and shake them well
but not well enough
to get them dizzy, and then
to release them to the elements
and behold
the air returns to fill the space
with words full of wisdom
that declares
give us space and meaning:
logos that annuls idiocy
