BOY BY THE RIVER
The river flows like crystal
and the boy looks into it and smiles.
What harm can it ever do,
this clear pure water as it flows?
Two lilies flow with the current
and here and there they cross.
The boy imagines that they signal
as if to tell him something.
Here and there they wander
as the water pushes them.
What do they signal to the boy?
What do they want to say?
On the branch of an oak tree he climbs
thinking to hear the lilies speak,
but suddenly the thin branch breaks
and carried him into the water
and as the light leaves his eyes
one reddish light shines over
till the yellow lilies fall like
a cross over his forehead.
Which boy that goes near a river
cannot clearly see
the harm it can do
the clear pure water as it flows?
