Seasonal Fights
“Why you get so involved and wear out
yourselves in temporal fights?”
A poet, a comrade since
the days in exile, told us
“I’ve seen many kingdoms fall
and others took their place
so many lords who died and their
inheritors fought for the throne.
Only poetry stays forever, therefore
don’t waste yourselves in temporal things.”
Perhaps his point of view was right
yet it was unacceptable to us since
even the pure poets seemed to be
harmless, out-of-commission battleships.
