THE DANCER
…“Where are we going?”
“No worries, you’ll see…” Vangelis said enigmatically.
He drove his Chevrolet to places Costa didn’t know since his
knowledge of Vancouver was still very limited. Thus, he didn’t ask much
until they reached Granville Street, which Costa recognized, and they
stopped in front of a place called “Gary Taylor’s,” an unknown place
for Costa. When they got inside, he realized it was almost dark, yet he
followed Vangelis, who walked past various tables until they reached
one table very close to the stage, just in front of where they sat. A server
came, and Vangelis ordered two hamburgers with fries and two beers,
a customary lunch for anybody in those days. Costa hadn’t eaten half
of his hamburger when he realized they were sitting just a meter away
from the stage. Suddenly, a spotlight was centred on a twenty-something
girl, dressed in a short tunic, who appeared on stage and danced
to a piece of melodic music that graced the place with ambiance.
Vangelis leaned closer and whispered to Costa.
“You like it?”
Costa didn’t know what to say. He had never had such an experience
of having his lunch, and at the same time, a young girl danced
in front of him. He smiled vaguely and was somewhat embarrassed by
the spectacle when he noticed the girl started stripping, one by one,
her three pieces of garments, the tunic, her bra and then her panties,
came off. Costa had seen such performances in Greece before he emigrated
to Vancouver. But most of the time, the occasional girl would
strip until she was wearing her two last pieces; in other words, they
never took off everything like this young girl, here at Gary Taylor’s.
Yet there she was one meter away from Costa’s plate with the hamburger
and his fries which he enjoyed, and at the same time looking
at the girl’s vagina just in front of him, which turned him on in an
unprecedented way; he even felt almost ready to stretch his hand and
caress that beautiful mound, when Vangelis, as if reading his mind
said quickly.
“Don’t dare touch her, no matter what she does, don’t touch
her…”
