“We…ll, let’s see.” Moe sat cross-legged on the floor in front of the
sofa, leafing through the television schedule. “There’s Father Knows
Best ….”
Tyne made a face. “It’s okay, but kind of bland.”
“Okay then, how about Jackie Gleason? I know Ken likes him, especially
when The Honeymooners are on. It starts at eight o’clock.”
“Good, we should be through dinner by then.”
“And the guys’ll have the dishes done.” Moe closed the schedule
and tossed it onto the coffee table.
“Ha!” Tyne chortled. “Dream on, McCann. I don’t imagine Cam
has ever washed a dish in his life.”
Moe got to her feet and stretched. “Well, I know Ken has, because
when I’ve been at his parents’ for a meal he and I do the dishes for
his mom.”
Tyne thought back to Cam’s visit to her home in Emblem. She
had never even considered asking Cam to help her with the dishes.
Instead, he had sat in the front room and visited with her dad while
she and her mother did them.
Cam had been used to having maids in his home all his life. But
what about when they married? Would he expect her to have a maid?
She could not imagine what it would be like to have someone other
than family around all the time. For one thing they would have to
have a house big enough to accommodate live-in help, and she had
never considered that.
Come to think of it, where would they live when they were married?
They had discussed details of the wedding at length but never
once had either one of them brought up the subject of their future
home.
Tyne picked up her coffee cup and carried it into the kitchen
where Moe had started to prepare the spaghetti sauce. She made a
mental note to talk to Cam about living arrangements at the earliest
opportunity.
