Courage or Ignorance?
He said, “the birds fly against the wind not because
of stubbornness or competitive attitude or because of
exceptional efficiency — no, only because of their
coquetry — that their feathers wouldn’t get ruffled”
The others were surprised, thought they kept silent
as if guilty that they didn’t think of it,
as if guilty that he could be right
as if guilty that they could believe it. Then, they all
bowed and ruffled their hair. Luckily it was dark and
no one saw the other’s gesture, nor of the one who
had spoken and was still standing, graceful, and
with comped hair. That moment the moon glued
its ear on the window pane. Silence turned discernible.
And they all took their separate ways.
