Kingfisher
His eyes witness the last
rites of exhausted salmon
last spasms of body releasing
eggs amid the milky sperm
goal of life achieved
as nature commands, enough
for kingfisher to smile
at death as saying ‘welcome
nothing can stop nature now
not even you’ his last
glance falling on last effort
of salmon’s dead eyes
