He stood up on the podium
harping on so many things
filling all the hours
with yawns and laughing voids
yet what was so important
what we so needed to hear
he eschewed, the leader
trumping the podium
flogging victory and glory
reliving times
wars made one great
but he remained bound to
anemic newsreels and appeared
hollow in glory as he was before it
