Among the Blind
What could he do now that he was walking along
the ten blind men during the night? He tried to be invisible
and assume positions, with unnamed gestures, sometimes
naked, sometimes wearing a shirt holding a sword
of killed heroes, sometimes wearing the diaphanous
dress of the dead mythical woman. His changes were
always convincing, without proof. The blind men ate
a lot and slept a lot. During the afternoon, they’d bite
their fingernails listening to the radio of the opposite
bar. One of them washed his feet in the metal bowl.
The second man was wearing the cap of a clown.
The ninth, serene, observed the wall standing very
close to it. And he knew well that the blind weren’t
blind at all.
