IN FRONT OF PEOPLE
He put on his glasses and started to read with a warm
voice in front of the people.
Soon after he forgot about the people and continued
to read.
He noticed his free voice jumping over the letters
like a flag bearer striding over the dead in
the battlefield.
In the last verse, he took off his glasses, modestly,
professionally, a sign that
he had finished. That moment people applauded
and hurrahed.
Yet, he wasn’t listening nor was he seeing anything.
He held his glasses in his hand and waved.
The flag bearer had secretly left through the service door.
